Richard Forer

Rich Forer is an American author and commentator whose work examines the Israel–Palestine conflict, trauma, and the psychological roots of political identification. A former supporter of Israeli policy and a one‑time member of AIPAC, he underwent a major personal and intellectual shift beginning in 2006, which he describes in his books and public interviews. His background includes close family ties to Orthodox settlers in the West Bank and personal visits to both the West Bank and Gaza. Forer’s public dissent is grounded in his critique of Zionism, his support for Palestinian rights, and his analysis of how inherited trauma shapes denial of Palestinian humanity. He has spoken openly about moving from unquestioning support for Israel to advocating for justice and equality, a transformation he discusses in interviews and in Wake Up and Reclaim Your Humanity, which won the New York City Big Book Award.
