Rachel Shabi

Rachel Shabi is a British-Israeli journalist and author born in Ramat Gan, Israel, to Iraqi Jewish parents. She grew up in the United Kingdom and writes extensively on Middle Eastern issues, social justice, and progressive politics. Her book, 'We Look Like the Enemy: The Hidden Story of Israel's Jews from Arab Lands,' critiques Israel’s treatment of Jews from Arab and Muslim countries. Shabi has spoken out against discrimination, occupation, and violence in Israel-Palestine, and she is known for advocating Palestinian solidarity. In 2025, she signed an open letter to the UK government denouncing Israel’s actions in Gaza as 'genocidal violence'.
