Phyllis Bennis

Phyllis Bennis is an American writer, analyst, and longtime fellow at the Institute for Policy Studies, where she directs the New Internationalism Project. She is also an Associate of the Transnational Institute and has worked for decades on U.S. foreign policy, the Middle East, and the United Nations. Her background includes ten years as a journalist at the UN and advisory roles to senior UN officials on Middle East issues. Bennis is a founding member of the US Campaign for Palestinian Rights and serves on the national board of Jewish Voice for Peace. Her public work includes extensive writing and speaking on Israeli occupation, apartheid frameworks, and state violence, including recent analyses describing Israeli actions in Gaza as genocide. Her dissent is grounded in international law, historical analysis, and long‑standing engagement with anti‑war and Palestinian rights movements.
