Norman Finkelstein

Norman Finkelstein is an American political scientist, author, and lecturer whose work focuses on Israel and Zionism in the context of the colonisation of Palestine, international law, and the politics of memory surrounding the Holocaust. The child of Holocaust survivors, he has written extensively on human rights violations and the misuse of Holocaust history in contemporary political discourse. Finkelstein is one of the most widely cited Jewish critics of Israeli state policy. He has repeatedly argued, in public lectures and published commentary, that Israeli actions in Gaza meet the legal definition of genocide, referencing the 1948 Genocide Convention and UN investigative findings. His dissent is significant for its legal framing, historical grounding, and its influence on public debate about state violence and accountability.
