Molly Crabapple

Molly Crabapple is an American artist and writer whose work spans fine art, reportage, and political illustration. She is a contributing editor for VICE and has published in The New York Times, The New York Review of Books, The Paris Review, Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, and The Guardian. Her books include Drawing Blood, Brothers of the Gun (with Marwan Hisham), and Here Where We Live Is Our Country, her acclaimed 2026 history of the Jewish Labor Bund. Her artwork is held in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Barjeel Art Foundation, and the New‑York Historical Society. Crabapple, born Jennifer Caban in Queens to a Puerto Rican father and a Jewish mother of Belarusian descent, has spent 15 years documenting resistance movements through art and writing. Her Bund history explicitly frames the Bund as a model for contemporary leftist Jews resisting Zionism, and she has described Bundism as a resource for “combating the Zionist death cult.” She has reported from Gaza, Syria, Lebanon, and Ukraine, and her work has been recognized with Emmy Awards, a Murrow Award, and major fellowships.
