Jeffrey Sachs

Jeffrey Sachs is an American economist, author, and public policy analyst, known globally for his work on sustainable development, poverty reduction, and international diplomacy. He is a University Professor and Director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University, and President of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network. His career includes advising multiple UN Secretaries‑General and contributing to major global development initiatives. In recent years, Sachs has become a prominent Jewish voice calling for an end to Israeli state violence in Gaza, recognition of Palestinian statehood, and the use of international law to impose a just peace. In interviews and articles, he has described Israel’s actions in Gaza as genocide, criticised U.S. complicity, and argued that the UN must enforce Palestinian sovereignty. He has publicly stated that Israel “does not speak for me” as a Jew and has urged the international community to impose a two‑state solution through diplomatic mechanisms.
