Jake Romm
About
Jake Romm is a New York–based writer and lawyer, associate editor of Protean Magazine, and the US representative for the Hind Rajab Foundation. He publicly identifies as an anti‑Zionist Jew and has written extensively on antisemitism, Zionism, and international law, including the essay “Elements of Anti‑Semitism” in Parapraxis, where he argues that Zionism is a form of antisemitism that displaces Judaism with a nationalist project. In public talks and writing, Romm links critiques of Zionism to broader analyses of colonialism, apartheid, and state violence. At a 2025 UN civil society consultation on Palestine, he outlined legal and accountability strategies regarding alleged crimes by Israeli forces in Gaza, described the situation as a genocide, characterized Israel’s system as apartheid, and framed the BDS movement in continuity with the South African anti‑apartheid struggle, calling for sanctions and embargoes within an international law framework.
