Hadas Emma Kedar
About
Hadas Emma Kedar is a Jewish-Israeli PhD student in Communication Studies at the University of Hamburg and a communication studies and media arts scholar. Her academic work has focused on television news, crisis communication, climate communication and media arts, alongside journalism, teaching and art-making. She has publicly described herself as an anti-Zionist activist and has spoken and written about her experiences in the Israeli school system, including how it shaped Zionist identities and denied Palestinian history. Kedar participates in Jewish and international solidarity movements and serves as a co-organizer of the Jewish Anti-Zionist Congress. In public talks, interviews and lectures she has articulated an explicitly anti-Zionist outlook, describing anti-Zionism as opposition to what she characterizes as Zionism’s crimes of colonization, occupation, apartheid, dispossession, ethnic cleansing and genocide, and calling for an end to Israel’s subjugation of Palestinians. Her work contributes to debates on media, ideology and education in relation to Israel/Palestine, as well as to broader discussions on human rights and political responsibility in Germany and beyond.
