Eli Valley

Eli Valley is an American cartoonist, writer, and illustrator known for his satirical political comics. Born in Rhode Island and educated at Cornell University, he has published work in The Nation, The New Republic, The Village Voice, The Guardian, The Daily Beast, and other major outlets. His collections include Diaspora Boy: Comics on Crisis in America and Israel and Museum of Degenerates, and he previously served as Artist‑in‑Residence at The Forward newspaper. Valley’s work frequently critiques Zionism, U.S.–Israel political narratives, and the role of institutional Jewish organizations in shaping public discourse. His comics have been described as “explosively subversive” and a “searing indictment” of hypocrisy in American Jewish political life. His sustained visual commentary places him among the most prominent Jewish artists publicly dissenting from Zionist ideology and Israeli state policy.
